ShEvo

I went up to Dublin on Monday to meet Podiobooks founder and all-round podcasting guru, Evo Terra, and his wife Sheila. It was the first time we’d met in person after many years of email correspondence (usually along the lines of Evo telling me for the umpteenth time how to get my Podiobooks MP3s through PB quality control 😄).

Sheila, Evo, MB, and Ian

They’re currently on vacation in Ireland, and we met up for brunch in Temple Bar. We had a great chat, and it was especially great for me because I never get to talk to people in real life about what it is I do. (Most of the time I just say to the curious, “I write and podcast”, and that tends to be the end of the conversation). So imagine how cool it was to speak with someone who knows a ton more about all that sort of thing than I do.

I wish we’d had more time, but they’re on a round-Ireland visit and had an itinerary to keep to, and I had to get my train back home. However, we made vague plans to meet again, maybe at a podcasting convention or something of that nature. I hope so. And I suspect very much we shall, for things are afoot … which you’ll know if you’ve been listening to my recent episodes of the Underwood and Flinch After Hours podcast. The latest episode (#5) is now live in my podcast feed. Search for me in your podcast app and get caught up, or open this RSS link with your podcast app … https://mikebennett.libsyn.com/rss

Meanwhile ...

Dead Crabs etc

So I went for a swim the other day and I forgot to mention it (as you do, I mean, it’s not like I met Elvis or anything, is it?) But anyway, so I went for a swim – snorkelling – and … well, I didn’t see much. I saw some dead crabs. I saw a tiny fish. And that was about it. You can see why I forgot to mention it 😄

Merch, U&FAroundTheWorld

U&F at Dead Lake, Minnesota!

Happy 4th of July to all U&F listeners in the USA! And many thanks to one in particular, Stephanie Newland, who took time out from the holiday celebrations to get a snap of herself and her U&F merch at Dead Lake, Minnesota. It’s great to see the dark world of U&F in such a sunny and peaceful setting … at least till the fireworks start.

Don’t have U&F merch of your own? Then get some from my Redbubble store today. Go on, do it while it still exists, because nothing lasts forever 🧛🏼‍♂️

U&F in Hawaii

Aloha! My thanks to Anne Smith in Hawaii, who joins me as a contributor to the U&F Merch Around The World gallery with these two pics. One is taken near Diamond Head, the other on the beach on Oahu, Hawaii. The Ribena is a reference to a detail in my unfinished work, Still of the Night at Patreon. A nice touch, I think.

If you have U&F merch and you’d like to share it with me and the world, take a pic of it near a local landmark and send it to “mike @ mikebennettauthor . com” (no gaps in the email address). Don’t forget to say where it’s taken. And if you don’t have U&F merch, why not get some today from my Redbubble store? You can be the coolest person on your street … if only everyone else understood why 😊

U&F Merch Around the World

Hello there! So, first off, I posted a new podcast yesterday, so check your feeds for U&F After Hours 3. Just me on the show this time; Pauline was at work when I was recording and I felt I couldn’t postpone being in your ears another moment longer.

Also, I had a great idea!! Or at least what I think is a great idea …

Are you the proud owner of an item of U&F merch? If so, this idea involves you (if you’re game). And if not, then buy some immediately from my RedBubble store! Click here

Then, once you have whatever it is your heart desires, rush out to your nearest local landmark and take a pic of yourself, and/or your item of merch, in front of the local landmark. I went out in Wexford Town today to do just that …

The one on the left is me (modelling one of my U&F tees) with the Pikeman in Wexford Town, and the one on the right is one of my U&F mugs with Admiral John Barry, credited with being the father of the US Navy (he was born in Wexford).

Now, I realise you may not have a significant local landmark where you live. We can’t all have an Eiffel Tower or a Statue of Liberty on our doorstep. But maybe you have a favourite shop, pub, or supermarket where you could take a selfie with your merch? While it may be “boring old Walmart” to you, to other people around the world it’s a completely new thing that they’ve never seen before. For example, here’s me in front of one of my favourite Wexford shops, Red Books in St Peter’s Square …

Red Books, Wexford Town.

And then, once you’ve taken your photo, email it to me at: mike @ mikebennettauthor .com (minus the gaps), and I can then start a gallery of pics called U&F Merch Around the World. “What a great idea!” I hear you cry. “I hope someone else does it, because I’m not going to.” Nooooooo! You have to do it, yes, you! Because those other peeps, they won’t do it. They never do. So, be one of the happy few, and join me in theU&F Merch Around the World gallery. It’ll be awesome! 😊

Patreon Podcasts, U&F

U&F Volume 4 Now Completed at Patreon

The fourth book in the Underwood and Flinch Saga is now available in its complete first draft state at Patreon. The story, which follows on from U&F: Underground, is currently called U&F: Legion (though this will soon change to U&F: The Devil of Claverton).

The podcast is 13 episodes long and continues Underwood’s backstory from where it left off in U&F: Blood and Smoke (or Season 2, if you’re thinking in terms of podcasts).

In it, we travel to Colonial America in the year 1719, where Underwood goes in search of his lost love, Martha. Though little does he know, he himself is the object of a search by his persistent nemesis, Henry Verlaine.

You can access Legion/The Devil of Claverton, and over fifty other U&F podcasts that have not yet aired in my free podcast, by becoming a patron of mine at Patreon. Just sign up at the $3 a month level (or the equivalent in your local currency, which you’ll see reflected on the site when you go there). Then copy your unique Patreon RSS code into your podcast app* (they’ll email it to you). And then all my Patreon podcasts – at your pledge level – will appear in your app, just like those of any other podcast.

Huzzah!!

*Note. Spotify does not work with the Patreon RSS code at the time of this blog post.
